An Introduction to Computer Vision Syndrome

Computer vision syndrome (CVS) refers to eye and vision problems linked to extended computer use.

This has become an increasingly common affliction as a result of increased computer use at work or at play.

According to research, about 70-75 % of people who work in front of the computer develop eye and vision problems.

The good news is, CVS can make you feel bad and affect your productivity, but it will not cause permanent eye damage.

Signs and Symptoms

Irritated eyes (dry, itchy or red eyes), blurred vision, headaches, backaches and muscle fatigue after too much time in front of the computer.

A less common symptom is a slower change in eye focus. There is a slight delay in the eye's ability to focus when you shift from looking at something from afar to something closer, or vice versa.
